The Best Vitamins For Eyes

1. Vitamin A

You all think of eye health when you hear of vitamin A. These vitamins play an integral role when it comes to vision. The nutrient helps to maintain a clear cornea for a clear view of the surrounding. The cornea is the outer covering of your eye.

Vitamin A traces are found in a component of the eye called rhodopsin. This is a protein component that enables your eyes to see in low light conditions.

Therefore, a deficiency in vitamin A can lead to serious eye conditions. The condition is called xerophthalmia. This condition can lead to permanent eye damage though it is rare in developed countries.

Xerophthalmia often presents as a progressive eye condition. It all starts with night blindness. Continuity in the deficiency in vitamin A leads to tearing down of tear duct that leads to dry eyes. Eventually, the cornea of your eyes softens leading to irreversible blindness.

Maximum intake of Vitamin A may also help protect against other eye conditions like age-related macular degeneration. (AMD) and cataracts.
