How Can We Become The Person That We Have Been Designed to Be
Most of us are so caught up in our hectic day to day lives that we forget that we are in this world for a purpose – to serve God and humanity. Knowing your God-given purpose not only helps you live a better life but also enables you to positively impact the lives and circumstances of those around you.
Most importantly, having a clear idea of your purpose on earth gives you a reason to wake up every morning and consequently, influence your lifestyle choices for the better. Nonetheless, it’s good to balance between your God-given purpose and normal life as you could very easily lose one when chasing the other. And with that said, here are some tips on how to live a healthy life, for your God-given purpose to become what you have been designed to be. But before that, you need to identify your purpose.
Knowing Your God-Given Purpose
Everyone is born with an innate ability (or talent) that they can master through consistent practice and that they can use to change the world. For some, identifying this talent is the easiest thing. For instance, my parents discovered my passion for drawing when I was only 2 years as I used to draw on anything and everything I came across. Luckily, they supported me through the years and I can say that my drawings have changed both my life and the lives of my family and community over the years, but I digress.
What I meant to say is, some of us discover our purpose while still kids while some discover theirs in adulthood. And if you haven’t yet discovered your God-given purpose, here’s how to go about it:
1. Ask Yourself These Questions
Your passion is essentially what makes you (and those around you) happy and accomplished and doesn’t necessarily put money into your account. As you begin your journey of self-discovery, some of the questions you need to ask yourself are:

– What job or activity can you happily do for a year without getting paid?
– What activities would you engage in if you had enough money to cover your needs?
– What would you do differently for your community or country if you were in a leadership position?
The answers to these questions range from social and humanitarian programs to political reforms to even education, arts, sports, and music. There is no right or wrong answer as we all have our vocations and purposes on earth.
2. Remember Your Favorite Activities When You Were Younger
When you are young and innocent, without the bills and responsibilities, you have more time and freedom to partake in hobbies and activities you are passionate about. Of course, as you grow older, you have to work in order to survive and may not have the time or energy to do all the fun things you like. As you strive to identify your purpose, think about all the things you loved and enjoyed doing when you were young and free, be it playing football, playing instruments or even drawing.
If you had multiple hobbies as a child, try to find time amidst your work schedule to engage in some of them. If you had one passion, such as sports, dedicate a few hours per week to see if you can relight the spark. Reliving your childhood hobbies is not only a great way to keep fit both mentally and physically, but it also helps you find your life’s purpose and socialize with other people who are into the same things as you.
3. Don’t Prioritize Money
As mentioned earlier, living according to your purpose entails doing what is good for God, your happiness and humanity in general, even when it is not necessarily profitable. So, whether you find your passion in music, science or politics, think along the lines of how much happiness you will derive from your passion as opposed to how much money you could make. This way, you will be more grounded in your principles as you move along whereas you may be forced to do some unethical things if you were primarily interested in the money.
4. Don’t Forget The Things You’re Not Good At
There are people who, instead of being exceptional in one thing, are good (in the loose sense of the word) in a number of things. For instance, you may not be a great vocal artist but can play a few tunes on the piano and have decent sales skills. You may not succeed as a musician in that case but can be a highly successful music producer or artist manager.
As it goes, the world’s most successful people are not necessarily the most talented but those who are able to fuse different skills and competencies to work for them. For instance, Mark Zuckerberg is not the best computer programmer in the world but he combined his programming skills with decent skills in sales, designing, and management to create the world’s biggest tech company.
Living A Meaningful Life
Having found your purpose, how can you live a wholesome and Healthy Life, for your God-given purpose to become what you have been designed to be? Here are three ways to enhance your mental preparedness and be ready to serve your God-given purpose:
Manage Stress – Stress is one of the biggest killers in the first world and knowing how to manage your stress levels is key to living a healthy, meaningful life and subsequently achieving your purpose. Meditation, reducing caffeine intake, practicing breathing exercises and sharing your problems are some of the proven ways to keep calm during stressful situations.
Achieve Inner Peace – You have the free will to acquire your happiness. One way to achieve the elusive inner peace is to accept all the things you can’t realistically change and stop struggling to change them. Also, learn to be honest to yourself and to others as it eliminates the pressure that comes with lying.
Keep Off Negative Energy – Always focus on the positive side of things and not the negative. For instance, when you are about to perform a musical piece, cultivate thoughts on how you will own the stage and earn the crowd’s adoration. Don’t fuss over whatever could go wrong as it will only derail you from your goal. Further, drop all friends who are always pessimistic about life and those who are perpetually sad and angry.
These points may not be everything you need to live a meaningful life but they are vital to the journey and that’s why we’ve highlighted them. Now let’s take a look at the different ways you can keep your physical health intact to achieve your purpose.
Keeping Your Body in Sync With Your Purpose
One way to keep your body in sync with your purpose is to use preventative health services as often as you can. This entails getting checks and diagnoses for various illnesses such as cancer, AIDS, blood pressure and diabetes. By knowing your health status, you will be in a better position to look for early treatment in case you are sick. And as you know, almost every disease is curable if spotted early enough. Additionally, research shows that there is a correlation between the use of preventative health services and a higher sense of purpose, particularly among older people.
Going for mental health checkups and consultations is also vital if you are not feeling right in this area, this is relevant in keeping you fresh and ready to serve your purpose. Remember, if your mind is not settled, you won’t have the time nor energy to take care of your body and your life goals and purpose may suffer, Remember the spiritual side of you is very relevant to many conditions that you are experiencing, so follow the calling.
Psychologically speaking, keeping tabs on your health status boosts your confidence to face life, especially when you find out that you are fully healthy. Even when you discover an illness, you are likely to spend less time at the hospital as preventative services help in diagnosing all types of ailments before they reach a fever pitch.
In Conclusion to Your Healthy Life
Living your life to the fullest and enjoying yourself is a lot of fun, but living your life in a purposeful and meaningful way is even more fun. Knowing that your life counts, not only to you and your family but to your community and the world at large, keep you grounded on the right path.
