There are so many common sense things about being healthy. Of course, diet is a big one. If we eat unhealthily, then we will be unhealthy.
It is just something that is so important to do in order to change our lives. Diets don’t work but thinking and eating healthy do work.
Exercise is always partnered with eating healthy. It doesn’t even have to be strenuous time-consuming exercise.
A 30-minute walk a day is a good start. I always say that you can plan to eat right and exercise but the key is in taking ACTION! Yes, attitude is everything so it’s all about getting up and moving! Isn’t that what we all need to do?

I guess everyone wants to live long and prosper. Americans are bad to have unhealthy lifestyles and smoking is probably the worse of all the unhealthy things that you can do to your body. That and overeating are two of the worse things Americans do to affect their health.
Not getting enough exercise is bad in America also. My father died at the age of 42 and his doctor said my brother and I wouldn’t live as long as he did. I think the reason he died at such a young age, he was in WW II and caught malaria, plus he worked too many hours in a textile plant. Working all the hours that he worked and not getting enough exercise and sleep has the factors of him dying at such a young age. I have lived 21 years longer than he did and am in reasonable good health. I guess you will go when you are called by the higher being. A lot of good information in your article that I am going to try to start doing some of the things that your article has made me think about more.

We’re literally on the same page when it comes to the definition of a healthy lifestyle. Eating a healthy, balanced meal, regular exercise, having at least 7 hours of sleep and not smoking is definitely on my list of the key elements of a healthy lifestyle.
Although I am not totally against a little bit of this and a little bit of that as I also want to indulge myself once in a while, I would say that lots and lots of discipline and a strong motivation are much needed for one to ultimately succeed in keeping his goal of having a long and fulfilling life. Let’s face it, we all want to live long but not everyone is willing to put in the necessary effort.
And if I may add, I’d say drinking lots of water every day and having a healthy spiritual life also contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Hi Jack,
Good to hear from you again Jack. You are right, a healthy lifestyle is a decision to change one’s life in a positive direction. It’s not something you can just hit and miss. It has to be practiced daily as much as possible.
I am learning this “Healthy Lifestyle Fact” the hard way. I was recently diagnosed with a “leaky gut”. Eating a lot of junk and processed foods over the years has finally caught up with me. I have to change my diet completely.
I don’t smoke, but diet and exercise are now part of my daily routine. I have only been at it a couple of weeks, my energy level is already getting better.
I just have to stay with it and that starts with my attitude. You made a good point here. Thanks.
I looked at another post of yours, “Do You Want to Enjoy Your Meals?” I loved this. The recipes take away the dread of bland tasteless diet food.
You offer a good variety of posts about “Healthy Living”. Your website is definitely a good place to go for good health advice.
Very good job, Jack. I hope to hear from you soon.
